At the heart of this initiative lies our collaborative hub - an energetic and inclusive space where brilliant minds from different backgrounds converge, share ideas, and form connections that transcend boundaries. This hub, located at White Rose Park, in South Leeds, will be home to a vibrant community where entrepreneurs, researchers, industry leaders, and visionary thinkers come together to tackle head on the challenges our city faces head-on.
REAL-WORLD TESTBED
Ingenuity is not just about ideation and brainstorming. We will offer a 5G real-world testbed - an actual living laboratory within White Rose Park where innovators can experiment, prototype, and test their ideas in a controlled environment. This allows us to validate and fine-tune our solutions, ensuring they are practical, scalable, and impactful. Here, innovation takes tangible form, and we can witness the power of our collective efforts.
ADVANCED DIGITAL TWIN
Complementing the testbed will be our advanced digital twin - an immersive virtual replica of White Rose Park and its surrounding cityscape. This leverages the power of data and advanced analytics to simulate and optimise various scenarios, enabling us to make informed decisions, anticipate outcomes, and design smarter solutions. It acts as our digital guide, help us navigate the complexities of urban challenges.

An exciting concept for democratising and de-risking the innovation pathway – a machine that brings together the power of collaboration, real-world experimentation, and cutting-edge technology, creating opportunities for everyone to contribute to making Leeds a smarter city.

The origin of Ingenuity can be traced back to the MIT REAP programme and its impact on the innovation-driven entrepreneurial ecosystem in Leeds City Region. There was a clear need, from all stakeholders involved, to join forces and form a new collaboration. REAP was created by MIT for cities and city regions to co-develop long-term strategy and deploy new interventions to strengthen ecosystems’ innovative and entrepreneurial capacity.
